Puri Wulandari
Sometimes it’s all about romance. Anniversaries, honeymoons and birthdays – we all have them but how many times in our lives do we indulge in a truly luxurious treat. Dial “6” on your phone and its all arranged. This links you to your butler – all villas at Puri Wulandari have a personal 24-hour butler service.

The resort is built in levels and is totally private. There is an open-plan restaurant, which allows you to take in the surrounding natural environment. The views are simply outstanding. The bar overlooks a jungle clad dramatic valley and, set as the backdrop, three volcanic peaks rise in the distance. This is a sunset spot not to miss.

What could be more romantic, than dinner for two in your private villa, poolside, with the sounds of nature and the mesmerizing lull of the distant river below.

The thatched roof luxury villas are designed with stylish Balinese elegance. The architectural style flows with yin and yan and creates a very balanced feeling. The bathroom overlooks the valley through floor to ceiling glass and allows the feeling you are virtually right in nature.

These are two showers, one outside shower allows you stand under a canopy of bougainvilleas and gaze up at the stars. It has no outdoor light, as it is designed to be lit only by the moon.

The lounge and dining areas of the villas are open-plan, with minimalist elegance. The constant breeze that blows across the ridge makes it a pleasure to dine outside, read in the day bed or relax in lounge area. In fact, the outdoor setting of the villa allows no choice but to absorb the rhythms of nature that surround you.

The personal service and attention to detail by your assigned butler simply adds to the ease of having a memorable stay. From requests of cappuccinos to finding out about walks in the area, your Butler looks after any requests or questions you may have.

Indeed one evening I asked for our dining table to be moved closer to the pool and for a candle. I left the front door ajar, so the butler would know to simply walk in and organize this while I was still in the room.

When I slid back the wooden framed Balinese doors, I was treated to a spectacle of colour and light. The table had indeed been placed next to the pool, and a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers had been placed on the starched-white linen tablecloth. The pool was fringed with tiny fairy candles, creating a magical atmosphere.

I thought “There must be a team of people who respond with lightning speed when a guest asks for a candle and a table to be moved. Maybe the butler dials another number and the “romance team” goes into action”!

I’d never heard a sound while the table and chairs were being moved. The whole set up was completed in about five minutes. The food was beautifully presented and, after the napkins were placed, our butler asked if there was anything else we needed, and then left discreetly. When you experience service on this level it leaves a lasting impression.

The Puri Wulandari is luxury redefined and for that special treat or special someone you want to treat, it lays waiting for you to discover.
