Treasure of the Archipelago
Bali, Indonesia – Nusa Dua
This mega production show is a theatrical experience that will keep you elevated, with its lofty acrobatics, intrigued with its journey across the Indonesian archipelago encountering animals and dramatic scenery, and spellbound and fascinated with its hi-tech special effects of volcanoes bursting forth lava and spontaneous torrential rain downpours.  Never a dull moment.

Welcome to the Devdan show.  I put it up there in performance terms, with grand shows in Las Vegas.  The huge sets, which constantly change, providing colour and variety hold your attention for the whole 90 minutes. Its pure entertainment.

The Bali Nusa Dua Theatre is a 700 seat capacity venue.  When it comes to entertainment value, you are in for a treat.  Devdan is a spectacular dance performance that blends traditional Indonesian dance with modern dance.  It is a showcase of Indonesian culture and takes you on a journey across Bali, Java, Sumatra, Borneo and Papua.

Dangling from above the stage using only silk material you will be fascinated with the aerial human flying acts.  The flying love scene in particular, is beautifully choreographed – it is very tender and captivating. However, next a minute it will be raining in Sumatra followed by warriors battling in Java. The costumes are elaborate and the lighting and sets changes are dazzling.  The music ranges from hip-hop to traditional, so it is a show that appeals to all ages and is definitely a “must-do” when you visit Bali.

The show far surpassed my expectations.  My favourite was the monkeys, which added humour and cheekiness, interacting with the crowd and always surprising the audience.  Highly recommended.
